The bearing bars are the flat bars that withstand the major load, whereas the crossbaris the bars made up of twisted, flat or round bars and are mainly the connecting bars extending across the bearing ones. The length of this kind of grating is measured by the grating panel dimension, parallel to and running in a similar direction as bearing bars.

The grating can be made of various materials, namely steel, galvanized metal, aluminum and also fiberglass.
Steel Grating Bearing Bar can be of three types namely-
a)Plain bar- the one with the widest use for sidewalk floors
b) Serrated bar — non-skid and safer form
c) I-shaped plain & serrated bar — lighter in weight and more economical , better anti slip effect form
