How is expanded metal measured and sized?

· Gauge: The thickness of the original base metal before it is expanded.

· Finished Thickness / Strand Thickness: The thickness of the expanded metal.

· Strand Width: The size of the solid metal portions of the grating.

· Bonds / Bond Width: The intersection of the stands. The bond width it typically double the width of the strand.

· Short Way of Design (SWD): Short way of Design measures the shorter distance from center of bond on one side to the center of bond on the other side

· Long Way of Design (LWD): Long way of design measures the longer distance from center of bond on one side to the center of bond on the other side.
